Create product filter

Buyer can filter or search the products by parameters (color, size, price and etc.). Each category can have different parameters and filter.

How create filter?

1. Create product types (categories) such as home appliances, computing

1.1. Site > Control Panel > Products list > left menu Product Type List

1.2. Click icon New on the top right > write the type name > click icon Save

! If you create a type for the first time, please delete or passive existing types.

2. Create type parameters, example size, color, etc.

2.1. Click link Show

2.2. Click icon New on the top right and fill in the form

Below you will find example, how to fill in the parameter, which can give possibility to filter product by multiple criteria:

3. Add product type and fill in parameters fields in product information.

3.1. Site > Control Panel > Products list > click the product name> click icon Add product type

3.2. Select product type (category)

3.3. Click icon Save > fill in new tab in product information

3.4. After changes click Save

The completed parameters information will display in product page in tab Product parameters.

4. Synchronize filter: Components > Virtuamart filters > Synchronize

Click the link Show on the type row and you will see all parameters. Parameter can be passivated by clicking the green check mark on the parameters list.

! Click the type name and you can select categories, which will have the same filter.

5. You can change filter position: Extensions > Module manager:

a) find filter module and make changes

or

b) you can create filter module: click icon New on the top right > select New Bookmark VirtueMart Module Filters > fill in necessary fields according to the examples below.

After changes click Save.

The filter will appear when you will go into the category, which has filter. If all items have the same parameters values, the filter will not show you possibility to filter products.
